crystal clear transparency

I'm going live on the gram today at 1pm to answer some of my FAQ's about The Audacity Project, but I wanted to answer them here too- because I believe in transparency.

You have the questions, I have answers!

I only want these emails to reach people who will enjoy them- if you don't want to get emails about The Audacity Project, but you still want to be on my list, just click here. No harm, no foul.

Keeping it real- one question at a time:

Wait how much is this program again?

The Audacity Project is a $1197 investment- if you pay upfront, it's only $1097. Alumni perks also include the ability to audit any future cycles for free (I already have 4 who are auditing Cycle 28), discounts on affiliated programs like the fantastic teacher training courses offered by Paper Doll Militia, and inside offers from time to time, as well as the ability to be an affiliate of the project and earn a commission.

You say you have a BIPOC scholarship fund, so what does that mean exactly?

This fund has been in place for 5 years. The bulk of it comes from 10% of my Patreon income, as well as private donations from alumni and other individual artists. This fund is used to directly and fully discount tuition for any BIPOC creator who wants to take the course. There is enough in this fund currently to offer TWO more creators half off of tuition. You read that right.

I don't think Black people are poor. I think circus is too white. And even though this program works with any creative freelance endeavor, it started with circus and the bulk of my audience is circus-centered. With the current environment around DEI, I am gleefully leaning hard into my autonomy as a human, a mentor, and a business owner to state that MY DEI practices will not be rolling back. To claim access, just reply to me here.

How many people are in each cycle?

Historically, anywhere from 9-24. There are currently 10 in Cycle 28, with plenty of room for more. I expect this cycle to be on the smaller end (10-15).

When is group class?

Tuesdays, 2-3pm EST. We may run over some weeks. You can check that against your own time zone here.

The exception to this is that there is NO class during break week (April 7-11) and the class in Week 6 (April 22) is 2 hours long instead of 1, because we talk about money that week. It's a lot to unpack, so we allow more time for that one.

Will there be a replay if I miss class?

Do not make me throw my phone into the ocean. You know damn well there's going to be a replay. I would not do you wrong by not giving you access to what you paid for. You can download the replays for your records and keep them forever.

You say you provide unlimited support, but I don't believe you.

Try me. In addition to the 2 30 minute 1:1 video calls that come with the course, I provide unlimited support via whatsapp. If this course worked most effectively as a DIY program, then that's how I would sell it (and I will, someday). For now, I know I can be the most effective when I get to know the current cycle as individuals, and make sure the materials are relevant for them, their goals, and where they are in their development.

So yes, you can text me at 3am. I won't answer you at 3am, but that's not your responsibility. Your responsibility in TAP is to ask for what you need as you work through the materials. My boundaries around how and when I respond to whatsapp messages is my responsibility. You can also send me brief voicenotes (I ask for a 1 minute limit, so that I can actually remember what you've said).

Please do not call me. I am an elder millennial and my phone has been on silent since 2016. :)

I'm not ready, when is the next cycle?

It's likely in the fall. The Audacity Project will continue in its current form until and including Cycle 30, in 2026. I can tell you from experience that it will never be convenient. The timing will never magically iron itself out. The best time to take the project is when you're excited to take it, and a little bit scared. That's the magic combo.

I'm afraid I'm not skilled enough in aerial/pottery/dance/whatever my discipline is.

I do not care how skilled you are in your artistic discipline. The Audacity Project is about business skills, career development, and boldly pursuing artistic integrity- not how many pull ups you can do. For this reason, you are also encouraged to participate in TAP if you're injured, or in your off season. It's a great time to make use of the extra room in your life to get together the rest of what is necessary to thrive as a working artist other than your physical fitness.

I'm afraid I'm too old.

You're not.

Desire has to be honored while its hot, otherwise it wanders off eventually. If you're hungry to pursue this work, you're not too late. In celebration of the 28th Cycle of The Audacity Project, I want to share with you a gift...this is an activity you can DO. NOW.

This worksheet, beloved by me and familiar to many Alumni, is part of the first week's assignment for The Audacity Project. It is not to be taken lightly- as this is the foundation we use to build out ALL of the rest of the project. Your goals, your materials, your contacts, your strategy- it all has to be built on a solid foundation of ...

...stop me if you've heard this before...

YOUR DESIRE. Also, it's just damn fun. You can access this gift here: Click here to access the worksheet!

How long do we have access to the materials?

How does lifetime access sound? Your investment does not expire.

I need to read some client testimonials...

I got you. There's a whole host on this page, and here's a few for easy access:

"I feel like I got so much more value than what I paid for. I am so so grateful I could message you! But everything, the classes, materials, worksheets, one to one calls, it was all so good, and I also have so much to show for all of it and for going through TAP." -Verity, Cycle 24
"The ability to reach out via WhatsApp and get your take on things quickly and informally was phenomenal. It paired perfectly with the formal feedback on worksheets so I felt like I was getting support from all avenues." -G, Cycle 24
"Q: Would you recommend this program to a friend or colleague? A: Fuck yes. I loved this program. I am impressed how you manage to support a whole cohort of us because the type of support I received almost made me feel like I was the only one at times.” -Rosemary, Cycle 24
“I accomplished way more than I thought I ever could. It was ooey gooey hard work, but worth every second of it. The course far exceeds the cost! The skills I have learned are transferable to my whole life (not just my aerial career). Just learning to advocate for myself has paid me back in full!” -Emily, Cycle 24

The doors to Cycle 28 close tomorrow, at 11:59pm EST. You can reply here with any questions you have, I read every response. We begin our work Monday!!

Onward, hoes. I salute you.

Don't go back to sleep.
