Feminist snack menu

Happy Wednesday!

Last week I asked what feminist snacks people are enjoying (micro acts of feminism). I did get some responses so Imma share them here with you- directly from readers:

  1. Wearing a shirt that says "If you can see this, you're gay" to a weightlifting class (very dude-heavy class, but several complimented her on it, which I love so much. Inclusive spaces include everyone.)
  2. Creating a space for kids ages 6-13 to share names, pronouns, and however they are feeling (this isn't micro, this is macro, and they know it)
  3. Swapping out a boring black and white work lanyard with a rainbow one
  4. Wearing bright uncoordinated colors and not shaving armpits
  5. A sweatshirt that says "Feminism is my 2nd favorite F word" (I'm seeing clothing is SUPER useful for saying without saying)
  6. Instead of saying "ladies and gentlemen", saying "Ladies and everyone else"
  7. MOAR CLOTHES! A "Free Gaza Circus" or "Abortion is healthcare" tshirt
  8. Putting all the femme names first in the fancy calligraphed wedding invitations. (I did this for my wedding and it brought me so much pleasure.)
  9. Refusing to laugh at jokes that are not funny, no matter who tells them.
  10. Calling all my friends with PhD's Dr., BECAUSE THEY ARE

These acts are small (except for #2) but they ALL have power. Imma shout out my dear friend Janelle again, who said today in their stories:

"What you do matters. That small, and even internal actions against systems of oppression MATTER. It doesn't *fix the problem*, AND, it matters."

Small, internal actions have power, in part because they alter perception. When your perception changes, has the world changed? No- and yet, everything is different. New possibilities that were invisible become visible. A way through becomes not just possible but exciting. Your own autonomy moves downstage. The lights come up. LINE!? :)

Speaking of downstage- the waitlist for The Audacity Project will be closing this weekend (Sunday night). If you're interested in the project, that's the best place to be to get the goods including:

  • early access
  • a $100 discount
  • lifetime access to a short, powerful bonus workshop on preparing for an intensive process
  • entry to win a bonus private session with moi during your cycle

If you want the extras, you can click the button below to join the party before Sunday.

One of the primary joys of my life is running into TAP alumni in the wild, sometimes many years after our work together. Exhibit A from Sweet Retreats last year, left to right: Scary, Gehana, me, Jenny, Sarah, Mo!

I could ask any one of these creatures what their resistance snack of the day is, and they would all have a different answer. I'd want to copy all of them.

The world would be the same. And yet, everything is different.

Keep being different.

Happy snacking, and don't go back to sleep.
