July's Woo Corner and other stories

Friends, witches, weirdos, a happy July to you!

If you're new here (hi!! welcome!) I use these monthly broadcasts to sum up all the areas of the internet I whisper to, as well as to deliver Woo Corner. If you're just here for the functional woo, you'll find it at the bottom of this email. But I hope you'll grab a tasty beverage of your choice and stay a while. Got lots of tasty things on the table today, and you are very welcome here.

All of you, and all of you.

From the Muse:

If you're wondering why I include offerings as property of the Muse, instead of only the art I create, a tiny observation-

Anyone who has ever studied an art form and then made at least part of their living by TEACHING that art form will tell you: they draw from the same well. Usually this translates to unfulfilled artists who teach more than they would like to, but find that this also zaps them of the energy to create their own work. The two feed off of and into each other, and it is definitely a challenge to feel a healthy and abundant relationship with them both. At this stage of my life, I feel a generative relationship with them both, that ebbs one way and then the other, never in perfect balance unless you look at it on a long enough timeline. That, I think, is the point of the elusive "balance". It's never actually balanced in a single moment, just on a long enough timeline.

Which is good news, because I've never felt "balanced" a day in my life. :)

And the Muse has been Musing! Here is what she's commanded and there are three things now on the table:

Thing 1- Overcoming the Imposter: Somatic Witchcraft for Artists

I'm hosting a 1-hour workshop called Overcoming the Imposter: Somatic Witchcraft for Artists (or really...anyone) on July 8th.

It's taken me 9 years of mentoring over 400 individual artists to stumble on this technique for halting a gremlin attack. This technique taps into the memory of the body to cut the gremlins off at the source, rather than trying to argue your way out of your feelings. The cost is $20 monies until the live workshop ends. After that it will still be available for the regular price of $47.

And yes, there will be a replay! And you get access to it for life, watch as many times as you want.

Thing 2- Seven Deadly Satisfactions:

Coming in August 2026- Seven Deadly Satisfactions will be a pleasure-driven 7-week dive into digging the worm of patriarchy out of our brains, using the tools of purity culture against itself. I'm tits-deep in gleeful research for this at the moment and having a fabulous time of building it out. This one is only going out to the waitlist, nowhere else. If you've been forwarded this email you can click the link above, but if you're already here on the list, all you have to do is tap the button below and you'll be added instantly (so tap with care).

Thing 3 - Creatrix is Returning!:

She's baaaack! This retreat is for learning witchcraft and functional woo in beautiful Edisto Island, South Carolina. It's gonna be MOAR witchy! And I added an extra day, so it'll also be MOAR luxuriously relaxing. The dates are May 9-15, 2027. You can click the image below to hop on that waitlist, where more details will be coming soon:

From the Podlycast:

The Audacity Works podcast is inspired by and dedicated to the working artist, the creative entrepreneur, and generally, doin the damn thing. Episodes air every Wednesday at 6am EST, and you can find a fair amount of functional woo and witchy shit sprinkled in there too now. Apparently, (I've been told) my voice is soothing (I had no idea before the podlycast) so perhaps I can keep you company on your next drive/laundry folding extravaganza. Aural offerings during Slow-Work June included:

  • Episode 188: Buffet Episode! A buffet episode is when I take 2-3 questions that I've gotten that I think are great but I don't know that I'd have 20 minutes worth of material to talk about. Ep. 188 included navigating our BS healthcare system (USA), and how to save people from perfectionism when you see it squishing their spirits.
  • Episode 189: A New Moon Ritual (with friends) by request from my friend and student the audacious Mo who asked for a birthday ritual she could do with friends under a New Moon
  • Episode 190: Hellish Amounts of Admin and How To Deal by request from another lovely alumni Julie, and I'm so glad she asked cause I had a lot to say about it- chock full of that good actionable shit!
  • Episode 191: Human Life Meat Stories and Using Instagram a good bit about the film Obsession which I LOVED and a nice counterpoint to all the unspoken pressures about posting on Instagram and interacting with social media in general (the first episode of July has ended up being a part 2!)

From the Patreon:

Patreon is my sacred space, my inner sanctum, and not only powers the podcast but also literally powers my life. I typically post twice a month, and 99.9% the content that goes on the patreon isn't available anywhere else. Shoutout to every single one of you, you make a huge difference in my life and allow me to do what I do, the way I do. THANK YOU for your presence, and your trust. It is such an honor to have you there.

Slow-Work June yielded:

Belly Dance at the Petri Dish Artist Salon

EEEEEEEeeeeek! Is how I felt not only posting this but DOING it and I'm so glad that I did. If you've been with me for a while you'll know I'm generally loitering at the gates of Welcome to Your Vulnerability so I have to put my money where my mouth is. That's what this post is- a running leap into sharing things I am Not Amazing at But Would Like to Be. For paid supporters.

and...

The Spinny Table and a Quest Renewed

A pretty juicy update with a satisfyingly 10x speed unboxing video of a new and delightful thing that I have very little idea of how I will use (but I WILL be using it). And some early access good stuff for mah people. This post is available for free members as well as paid.

And for those devotees of the aerial hoop:

Just a reminder that Full Circle, the creative aerial hoop retreat led by myself and Jenny Tufts, is open for registration! There are currently 12 places available for the Intermediate retreat, and 7 still available for the Advanced retreat (including a scholarship position for a Mexican artist living and working in Mexico!). I look forward to this all year, and would love to get to know you better whilst floating in the pool, which is where i will be most of the time that I'm not teaching.

All the details are on the website!

And without further ado:

July's Woo Corner:

I let my intuition guide all aspects of July's pulls, which ended up being:

Q1: What do our souls want to experience this month?

A1: The Two of Cups, reversed

I have always felt umbridge at the idea that we are here to "learn lessons". Eternal school? Nah, thanks I'm good. What I DO resonate with, however, is that our souls are here to experience themselves in this mortal coil. Which is pretty damn brave and cool of us.

And the answer we've gotten here is the 2 of cups, reversed. This speaks to discord in loving relationships. Please don't freak out. One- it means there is a loving relationship. SCORE! Good for you, good for us.

Two- discord is medicine. What kind of strength does a relationship have before it's tested? I love a new friendship, a new kinship, but I'm more secure in a connection after we've come through disagreement. You can take this as a comforting assurance that discord in relationship either leads to a deeper and more intimate connection between consenting beings, or a some amount of separation, either temporarily or not. Whichever way the cookie crumbles, there are diamonds in the saddlebags.

Besides, if our souls came to experience themselves and only wanted puppies and rainbows and never to have the thrill of an argument, they came to the wrong plane.

Q2: What would be helpful to know on the way?

A2: The Two of Cups and the Page of Wands

I felt drawn to draw two cards for this question, which I heard in my head with that line out of Zelda: "It's dangerous to go alone, take this."

It is VERY cool that one of the pulls for this question is the 2 of cups, upright. The exact same card as the first question, but in it's most benevolent position.

This is a reminder that even if your loving relationship is experiencing discord, the natural order will always be... love. Feelings are not facts, and they do not last forever. So if a relationship feels "bad" that doesn't mean that it is bad- it means you feel bad about it right now and therefore have information you can use to either repair or remove yourself.

The Page of Wands also appears here. This sexy young thing is bright, curious, open, and ready to BEGIN something. Take this energy with you in your pursuits, prioritizing the generative fire of curiosity over the heavy blanket of fear. You can feel them both, but let your actions come from your open curiosity rather than your fear.

Q3: Give us something juicy to carry with us.

A3: Great White American Egret

This card features the fabulous great American white egret, a common but delightful sight here in coastal South Carolina. The text reads:

If you closely examine the space between the fear of being wounded, and the desire to be seen, you will discover that love has danger only to those who guard against it. That it is not obtained by great acts of heroism, but let in through the aperture of time and ease, that it may leave before it returns to remain and surprise. For love is always wilder than you supposed it to be, and the great wonder is how it continues to hold as it continues to change.

For love is always wilder than you suppose it to be.

Stay wild and loving, my friends. We need you.

Don't go back to sleep.
