Marvelous creatures of the mailing list, Happy fuckin new year! I hope this finds you well, perhaps gently shaking off the soft haze of the land-outside-of-time that is Dec 26-31. I hope you can ease into January like getting into a hot tub; slowly, and with pleasure. If you're new here (hiii!!) I use the first email of the month to give updates from all my various dibble dabbles, as well as to deliver Woo Corner. If you're here for the Woo, you'll find it at the bottom of this email. In the meantime, grab yourself a nice beverage and stay awhile if you like. On the Podlycast:While I'm going to continue having guest episodes this year, they won't follow any arbitrary guideline that I experimented with in 2024. They will happen when they can, peacefully and sustainably. Weekly episodes will continue! December's offerings included-
On other people's podcasts:I got to sit down and have a heart to heart with the fab Dr. Meg Daley for her podcast, Human on the Daley. As has been true of every interaction I've ever had with Meg, we don't bother with small talk and jump right into the deep end. I love the deep end and Meg's natural warmth and wisdom are irresistible. :) On the Patreon:
And without further ado: January's Woo Corner, 2025Buckle up, my good people. Right outta the gate, shit is real. For newcomers, at the beginning of the year, I draw a card for every month of the coming year, specifically for this list. I read them one month at a time, but this year, I'm adding a second card for additional insights and to dignify the first. For the second card, I'll draw it live each month, out of one of my other decks. I have many decks that have been gifted to me, but so far I've only consistently read with the Thoth deck. So we will be learning together, and I think drawing the second card live will keep the energy so fresh and so clean-clean, reminding us that no card is more powerful than we are in the moment we realize we have a choice. Well damn diddly damn, look who's here again. The Magician was drawn not once but TWICE last year, you can read those entries here and here (and I'd recommend it). The Magician reminds us that: A power is ready to use as soon as it is recognized. This means that no, you don't need another course, you don't need another degree, you don't need another year or six before you use your gifts. Just because an ability is nascent doesn't mean it's potency isn't robust. If you've been waiting for permission, or for a sign, here you go. This is your sign, this is your permission slip. Acknowledge your power, and decide how you want to wield it. Then, and this is the most important part, go do that. Action is the cure for what ails you. Do it scared, do it imperfectly, and take pleasure in knowing you are fulfilling a part of your soul purpose with every bump and scrape along the way. Swords are meant to be used. Say it true, say it out loud, and know that you can handle the consequences of living your truth unabashedly. After all, the alternative is not good enough for you and therefore not worthy of your life. The second card drawn live is: This card is from the Wild Unknown deck, gifted to me by a beloved witch sister Sarah Gaudet. I have a long history with this deck because a close friend drew from it daily and shared his insights with me when I was still learning the Thoth deck. I can't actually recall ever having seen this particular card before, which is odd because it's the title card for the deck. The Dragon represents your truest and most essential nature. You know it when you see it because it's not a big dramatic feeling to recognize your true nature- it's more like remembering something you've known all along. It's a subtle but irresistible knowing. Personally, I remember a dream in which I saw my true essential nature very clearly. In the dream, I was sitting cross-legged by a large floating pyramid (weird flex but ok?!) wearing some schlubby comfy clothes and happily eating a sandwich. That's it. That was my big cosmic vision into my true essence. It made me laugh because I crave and delight in big cosmic purpose, ambition, and great works of art. But there was my true nature smiling back at me, perfectly content to be alive and needing no other validation, alteration, or adjustments to be complete. Just contentedly eatin a sammich. My favorite quote from the description of Dragon is, "It is almost as if we are traveling with a great friend inside of ourselves." What a marvelous companion, which is always precisely with you, and always accessible. I'll say again that the influence of this card is subtle, but very compelling. It's utterly transformative, even in its subtlety, perhaps because of the element of surrender that's present. It's not an explosive experience, to surrender to your true nature. It's more like an exhale, or a relief. The world is the same as it was before, and yet everything is different because you are seeing your essential self clearly. And it's already ready already. You're already at the table. You've already begun. Don't go back to sleep. xoRachel PS. If you're new here (and even if you're not) and something in here resonated with you, I'd love to know about it. You can reply here to tell me, I read every response. And please feel free to forward this to anyone you thought of while reading. |
