Hi friends, and welcome to spooky season. I know at least 75% of you are happily doing this right now: This is my monthly blast to compile all the corners of the internet I whisper to, as well as to deliver Woo Corner- which is at the bottom if you're in a hurry. But I hope you're not. As a friend said Wednesday after a dance class, "didn't we decide we don't do rushing anymore?" So get yourself a slow beverage and enjoy a leisurely perusal of words. I'm glad you're here. On the PodlycastSeptember's aural wallpapers included-
On the PatreonMy inner sanctum got early access to this one of a kind retreat experience, for physical performers who are tired of being injured and burnt out. Training and creating in ways that are sustainable for life is the name of the game this January at Sweet Retreats, MX! And because I can't not do this, I went on to tell stories from me and Kristina's storied friendship like that time she got bit on the ass by a black widow spider, then went on to perform several out of state gigs in a row (spoiler: her butt pulled through as always). You can read all about it here! Early bird pricing for Aerial Serpent ends October 11! Get while the gettins good, I'd love to spend a week getting weird with you.
IKYMI...Last call for TAP in the spring of 2026!The Audacity Project, Cycle 29 enrolled last month, welcoming 16 souls through the gates of the rabbit hole and we're well into Week 3 of the program. Cycle 30 will be the LAST CYCLE of The Audacity Project in its current incarnation, with all the 1:1 support and feedback it currently comes with. I feel like I've said it a lot but people keep asking me, so I'll say it again...Cycle 30, in the spring of 2026, will be the FINAL CYCLE of this beautiful flagship program that I've run since 2017. The absolute best place to be to know about it is on the waitlist, you can hop on that below: And finally- October's Woo CornerShocking absolutely no one who is paying the slightest attention, the card I pulled for October way back in December of 2024 was: The suite of Swords represents air (intellect, intuition, logic, overthinking, and scientific/philosophical progress). Swords get a pretty gnarly rep, and who could argue when this suite of cards is entitled things like Ruin, Cruelty, Futility, Sorrow, etc. etc. But why should something as objective as scientific evidence bear such dark titles? Think back to the greatest scientific discoveries that story the past. Were these revelations met with humanities' shared gratitude, showering the minds that ushered them forth with riches, thankfulness, and resources to continue their work? Not exactly... If you're unfamiliar with this painting, it depicts Socrates- who chose death by drinking hemlock rather than to renounce his "impious" beliefs and corrupting the Athenian youths with notions including his encouragement to question everything, including himself. It also depicts everyone as weirdly white, which...no. Worth pointing out. There are so many examples of people that brought a revelation forward for the betterment of humanity and understanding our world, who were met with persecution. Now, with that context, we begin to understand the swords more intimately. Pretty much everyone I know right now has been feeling some semblance of Chicken Little. "Dude, the sky is falling." "No, it's not." "It quite literally is." Now the sky was NOT falling for Chicken Little, but how was he to know that? The evidence was there. He didn't have the skills to interpret it logically, but you do. A card of 10 in any suite demarks the conclusion of a pattern. It reminds me of this line in Yeat's The Second Coming : Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold The 10 of Swords is characterized by a degree of instability that commands a resolution. It's a crumbling tower. It's a vending machine at a 45 degree angle...that bish is goin down. Out of pain and destruction comes wisdom, if we can hold onto what we've learned. If the centre cannot hold...it shouldn't. When the tower falls, it's reached its inevitable conclusion. Your rational and objective responses to a falling tower are just that...rational. Ok cool, so when the tower is falling- what do we do about it? Some of us have already tried panic- it didn't do anything useful. Or we've tried analysis- going round and round speculation and analysis until we forget that we can't think our way out of the situation. One of the gifts of swords is knowing when intellect is not enough. So Imma pull another card now. I'm again choosing card #2 from my new gift from Hilary Heuer, because it is so aptly named "100 Divinations for Uncertain Days": "A situation may appear firmly fixed by the contour of circumstances- and yet, with delicate and sober attention to the colouring of cause, the whole shape of existence itself may change." WHY was the tower so unstable in the first place? What flaws in its foundation foretold its ultimate demise? We will need the answers to these questions. When our perspective shifts, we can see through the rubble with wiser eyes, to the new building site. We begin to feel the first aha moments that herald a visionary. All we have is each other. All we have control over is our words, thoughts, and where we direct our attention. What will you do differently this time? Don't go back to sleep. xoRachel |
