Woo Corner for February:There's no way around it, shit is worse this time around. Y'all know what I mean. So because we could all use some good fucking news, I'm going to directly quote the booklet here just so you have some positive words to read: "The Empress: Love. Beauty. Happiness. Pleasure. Success. Fruitfulness. Good fortune. Graciousness. Elegance. Gentleness." The Empress is the embodiment of the divine feminine. Stop...I know people's eyes glaze over at that phrase, it has been used by predators in spiritual circles and weaponized to gain access to vulnerable people in search of support. I know this. So, let's clear the fog away by being very precise with the language and taking back this phrase for what it actually means. "The Embodiment". Felt in THE BODY. Not just represented by the body, literally experienced in the body, as a physical sensation. "Divine". Of the realm of the highest mysteries, which you are connected to without question and without severance, from your first day until your last day. There is no unknowable godly realm that you aren't already intimately connected to. In other words, this should not be read as an element that is difficult to know/tap into/have an easeful personal connection with. "Feminine". The feminine aspects of the human spectrum represent sublime receptivity; a capacity for change, a capacity to receive; invoking life, abundance, the grace of the air in your lungs at this very moment. There is nothing we can do to deserve it, and nothing we need to do because it belongs to us already. That's what grace is. So when I say "the embodiment of the divine feminine" it is an invitation to consider where and how you experience this force- which is present in all human beings- IN YOUR BODY. Does it feel like a soft mantle around your shoulders? Does it feel like a pleasantly heavy sloping energy away from your hips? Is it a frenetic ball of fizzy energy behind your solar plexus? What it feels like for me might not be what it feels like for you. But when we can invoke this state at will, we can have access to the vast sea of emotional intelligence that's our birthright. In other words, "thinking" and "logic" aren't exactly buttering the parsnips these days in terms of living our best lives. Instead, how about a fierce reclamation of our right to feel good in spite of all the reasons not to, because fuck all that. No. You will not go gentle into that good night. You will claim your right to be here and receive the air in your lungs and the dirt at your feet and the blaze in your chest. Do not go back to sleep. CARD #2: Mixing it up this year, I pull an extra card fresh every month to dignify the first. It's also a clever way to use the many decks I've received as gifts from beloved friends. This time I'm using the Reductive Tarot, a gift from Aisling Ní Cheallaigh and Jenny Tufts after a night of what I believe were pints of Guinness and a raucous good time. February's bonus card is: Subtlety has never been my gift, and apparently the cards aren't dealing in it either. This was not only the card for January, and the bonus card for this month, but it's come up in nearly every reading I've given this year. They are not fucking around, y'all. So listen up, once more: A power is ready to use as soon as it is recognized. A power is ready to use as soon as it is recognized. A power is ready to use as soon as it is recognized. You can read January's entry here if you missed it, for some more nuance. But this card alone belies action- do it scared, do it imperfectly, do the thing that's been haunting you. Much like this fucking card is absolutely haunting all of us. This card is a part of your purpose made manifest, which is done only through action. Imperfect, and perhaps stuttering, but in the doing, you claim your life. Your crown is bought and paid for- put it on your head and wear it. Honestly. We are being slapped up the head with this card. I feel so lucky and grateful for what is clear. Inhale, exhale, do the thing. I wish you grace. You already have it.
